The mineral in my country

The most mined mineral in my country is quartz. It is mined deep into the ground. This was one of the first most important company  xtrata. . Switzerland export and import a lot of quartz, they export their quartz in more than 100 countries. Quartz is one of the most useful natural materials because it has a hardness of seven on the Mohs Scale which makes it very durable.

  The value of quartz depends on it's purity but I found an information saying that in general a diameter cost 30chf . They depend a litle on quartz because switzerland is famous for it's watches and their watches are made of quartz.

Who owns the ocean's minerals????????????????

 My first thoughts
Today in science the teacher asked us a tricky question " Who owns the ocean's minerals?". At first I thought "Nobody the sea is to the animals and nature and we shall let it like that". But after some reflection I thought" If the poor countries own the sea and it's mineral.,hey could have money to develop and less people will die of hunger eatch days, also if the sea owned to sombody the country will care mor about it and will probably trie harder to stop water pollution so it would be good for nature"
 
Identify the problem
We all know that each piece of land owns to a country, but have you ever thought about who owns the Ocean and it's mineral? Each ocean is surrounded by many different countries and as the Law of Sea explains, oceans are the common property of everybody  on earth. But here is the problem, The ocean is full of minerals that could help a lot of poor countries to develop but here is the problem: Only rich countries can afford the mining!

Wealthy+  Developing
Some very poor countries like in south Africa are in fact very rich they are full od diamonds and other minerals, but mining diamonds require a lot of expansive material and those countries need a big amount of money to begin mining. Sadly they don't have it.

Solution+ solution
A good thing would be that rich countries share the money of the minerals with the closest country , so it would be good cause if the nearest country is poor after a certain amount of time this developing country will have enough money to mine on their self and begin a whole new economy.

WHAT ARE MINERALS?

Oh this is a question that I saked my science teacher today in science class. This was a good question and I learn a lot of things about minerals. First a mineral is a solid and not a liquid or gaz, it is naturally ocuring (we find it in nature) , it is inorganic, it has also a fixed composition and it finally has a definite structure. Some examples are...
minerals: gold, topaz, talc, Icebergs, diamons... ex
non-minerals: wood (it is alive),  pearl (made by oysters) ...ex

Our science presentation

Hi, this week in science we  did a science presentation about volcanoes and with my exfriend is volcanoes in ....Congo!!!! I know that it can seems a like a weird but in fact those two volcanoes are very interesting. I won't enter in the details but if  you want to research about them here is their name: Nyamuragira and Niyragongo . I think we did a great job in general and that the only thing that we had to do is to read less and speak more. I think we deserve a 5 out of 6.

Earth cracks and Volcanoes

This week in Science we had to situate on a world map were some Earth cracks and Volcanoes were and by surprise I realised that most of the Earth cracks werenext to a volcano!!!!!!! So If you want to move don't go go in a place were there is an Earth crack because it will probably also be next to a volcano!

New science project

During the week end for science we had to make a 3 dimensional miniature garden That we sprayed of different type of solution to grow some colored crystals on Tuesday.
day 2
I chose to add some more crystal  on the grasses with a green salt solution and on the trees with a pink gorax solution and finally poot some blue sugar solution in the river.
Day 3
Incredible!!The Salt Crystal climbed up some of the tooth pics and the borax crystals on the cotton tree began to grow with some litle sprakles !!!!!!!!
Day 5
Nothing had changed during the weekend
2 weeks later
 I realized sadly that my crystals had stopped growing

 What did the chrystal grow the best on?
I think that it grows the best sponges. I think so because all the best gardens had a crystal in it. And I think sponges have this effect because they absorbe the solution.

What did the christal grow the worste on?
For me and oher people the crystal grow worste on coton .It did like coton sugar when we poot it in our mouth , it bicame small and hard and impossible to grow crystale on.

What solution was the hardest /easiest to grow crystal ?
Looking at all of our projects the easiest and fastest solution to grow srystals were borax ,salt and solfate . I also think that sugar and phosphate were the hardest and slowest solutions to grow cystals.


Conclusion
This experiment teach me a lot of things because some of my crystals succeed to grow but some didn't ,but I also watch others crystal garden and it's how I figured out the answer to the main question: How does crystal grow? I think that what happens is that first crystal need to be poot on an absorbing substance after slowly the liquide part of the solution will evaporate letting the solide part of the solution grow slowly finally forming crystal.

The hope diamonde

The hope diamond necklace was cute from a stone of 240 carats.TH necklace was originally 75 carat but they changed it to 67.89 for better proportion. The necklace was design by Baumgold Brother. The total weight of the 106 diamonds is 45 carats It was worn during the movie Tarzan’s savage fury

Earths STRUCTURE

Earth’s crust is mainly compose of 2 type of rocks Basalt and Granite

The mantle: about 84 percent of Earth’s volume is mantle rock. IT flows like a glacier do

The outer core is molten and so hot it could be a fluid as water it is such a immense pressure that it is like a metal

GEMS
About 15 different minerals are commonly used for gemstones. The biggest gem producing countries are: Tanzania, Madagascar, South Africa , Australia…. A last thing to Know is that Gems are made of fluid, heat, and pressure.
