Earth cracks and Volcanoes

This week in Science we had to situate on a world map were some Earth cracks and Volcanoes were and by surprise I realised that most of the Earth cracks werenext to a volcano!!!!!!! So If you want to move don't go go in a place were there is an Earth crack because it will probably also be next to a volcano!

New science project

During the week end for science we had to make a 3 dimensional miniature garden That we sprayed of different type of solution to grow some colored crystals on Tuesday.
day 2
I chose to add some more crystal  on the grasses with a green salt solution and on the trees with a pink gorax solution and finally poot some blue sugar solution in the river.
Day 3
Incredible!!The Salt Crystal climbed up some of the tooth pics and the borax crystals on the cotton tree began to grow with some litle sprakles !!!!!!!!
Day 5
Nothing had changed during the weekend
2 weeks later
I realized sadly that my crystals had stopped growing

This is my garden (didn't work very well)

What did the chrystal grow the best on?
I think that it grows the best sponges. I think so because all the best gardens had a crystal in it. And I think sponges have this effect because they absorbe the solution.

What did the christal grow the worste on?
For me and oher people the crystal grow worste on coton .It did like coton sugar when we poot it in our mouth , it bicame small and hard and impossible to grow crystale on.

What solution was the hardest /easiest to grow crystal ?
Looking at all of our projects the easiest and fastest solution to grow srystals were borax ,salt and solfate . I also think that sugar and phosphate were the hardest and slowest solutions to grow cystals.

Conclusion
This experiment teach me a lot of things because some of my crystals succeed to grow but some didn't ,but I also watch others crystal garden and it's how I figured out the answer to the main question: How does crystal grow? I think that what happens is that first crystal need to be poot on an absorbing substance after slowly the liquide part of the solution will evaporate letting the solide part of the solution grow slowly finally forming crystal.

What we learned about Earth

HI every body I decided to share about what I learned this week in science classe:

The hope diamonde

The hope diamond necklace was cute from a stone of 240 carats.TH necklace was originally 75 carat but they changed it to 67.89 for better proportion. The necklace was design by Baumgold Brother. The total weight of the 106 diamonds is 45 carats It was worn during the movie Tarzan’s savage fury

Earths STRUCTURE

Earth’s crust is mainly compose of 2 type of rocks Basalt and Granite

The mantle: about 84 percent of Earth’s volume is mantle rock. IT flows like a glacier do

The outer core is molten and so hot it could be a fluid as water it is such a immense pressure that it is like a metal

1959, the Hawaiian volcano Kilauea produced rivers of red-hot lava that filled the adjacent crater, Kilauea Iki, to a depth of 135 m (440 ft) and created a lake of molten rock

GEMS
About 15 different minerals are commonly used for gemstones. The biggest gem producing countries are: Tanzania, Madagascar, South Africa , Australia…. A last thing to Know is that Gems are made of fluid, heat, and pressure.

This week on the crust of the world!!!

This week I discovered that I lived on the crust of a huge world (and that we always have to eat the crust of the bread or we will have an earth crack).Seriously ,I learned the 4 different layers of Earth and how warm it is under our feet : the core( center) is 1500 Celsius, the outer core (after), the mentall (just before the crust) is 120 Celsius and finally the crust ( the place were we live.)

I also learned about the caves and that they have good TV shows. First their is different types of caves: under groud, under water, ice caves and in a normal mountain. Their is also 3different types of animals that we can find in a cave : the ones that use it the day and go out the night ,the ones that stay in it for a certain period of the year and the ones that lives their for ever. Some of the animals that lives in the caves  we rent here at the beginning and so they adapted it miens that there body turn white and they became blind. A last thing that you have to know is that the temperature is always the same in a cave.

Now I know only certain thing it science and I WOULD LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE  to learn about more  things like rocks, the Earth structure, minerals, mining , evolution of animals... The problem is that I LOOOOOOVE all subject in Science so I would like to learn about everything. NOW IT'S YOUR TURN SUPER TEACHER!!!!!!

Jet lag slows hamster brains

When a person travels quickly over long distances, the place may not be the only change. When her bodily rhythms get thrown off, she suffers from jet lag , it’s hard to sleep and eat at the right times in the new location. Humans and all living creatures have an internal biological clock that tells them when to sleep, and when to be awake.
In a new study, scientists tested the effects of jet lag on hamsters — which might seem strange, since we don’t usually think of hamsters as world travelers. But what happens to hamsters may happen to humans, too.
Neurons are important cells in the brain. People are born with many of the neurons they’ll have their whole lives. But these cells also continue to be produced by the hippocampus, a part of the brain that helps people store and sort memories, and can move to other parts of the brain.
The hamsters with jet lag produced only about half as many neurons as before. Plus, the hamsters had trouble with basic learning exercises.
So if you have an hamster I don't think it's a good idea to bring him with you on a trip!!!!!!!!!

robot competition in atlantas

One weekend in April, 20,000 screaming and cheering fans showed up at the Georgia Dome in downtown Atlanta. The stadium is home to the Atlanta Falcons, a professional football team, but these fans weren’t cheering for their favorite football players. They were cheering for robots — and for the high school students who had built them.
Students on more than 300 teams from across the country had brought their homemade robots to Atlanta for the FIRST Robotics Championship. During the competitions, robots played “Breakaway,” a game where they scored points with a ball and climbed over obstacles The FIRST Robotics Championship in Atlanta lasted for only a few days, but the projects last all year. High schools register for the event in the autumn, and during the fall and winter they get ready to build robots.
So I now most of us are a bite young butif you want to be a famous scientist and you believein yourself...... COME WITH ME WE ARE GOING TO BUILD IT!!!!!

Active volcano on Venus !?

Incredible, you know that scientist already know of more than 1,000 volcanoes on the surface of Venus, Earth’s “sister” planet. A big question has been: Are they still active?
one of  their evidence comes from a lava flow in the planet’s northern hemisphere. The flow is hotter than the rocks around it, which means the lava might still be cooling off. Venus is a difficult planet to study from Earth because it is surrounded by thick clouds. Telescopes on Earth can’t see through these clouds, so the best information about Venus comes from spacecraft orbiting it.The scientists say the lava flow can’t be very old because if it were, it would have cooled off enough that Magellan wouldn’t have noticed the difference in microwaves.
Now we just have to wait until that we are sure of the information!!!
